Description

Got this one as a bit of a hobby project – I’ve been into radio stuff for years, from airshows to just listening to the bits of the sky that go up and down. This is a 3rd gen model, so it’s got a wide band receive down to 18MHz – means you can actually pick up CB signals now, which was a big deal for me. It’s got AM too, so it’s useful for airport chatter, air traffic, and even airshows.

I’ve got it fully programmed with all the main frequencies: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Prestwick airports, tower and approach control, amateur radio bands (both 2m and 70cm simplex and repeaters), and I’ve even added marine channels – ship to shore, ship to ship, coastguard, PMR, and all the CB ones. There’s a full printout of everything in the box too.

It’s 10 watts – that’s a lot more than regular walkie talkies, so it can actually reach further, which is handy if you're out on a hill walk, working on a building site, or just doing road trips. I’ve used it on a few hikes and even a few local airshows – it’s been solid.

It’s brand new in the box, came with all the settings and documentation. I’ve kept it for a while, and it’s been sitting in a drawer, but I’m now selling it because I’ve moved to Yeovil, Somerset and don’t need it for my regular use. It’s still in great shape and works perfectly.

Priced at £54 – it’s not expensive for what it does, especially if you're into radio hobbies or just want a reliable tool for work or trips.

If you're into airshows, outdoor stuff, or just want something that actually does something useful, it might be worth a look.
