Bechstein Model 8 Upright Piano Ebonized

I’ve had this Bechstein Model 8 upright for a few years now, and it’s been sitting in a climate-controlled warehouse in Harlow, Essex — not too far from where I live. It’s one of those classic Bechstein 8s, full 88-key keyboard, and it still has that signature blue felt, though I think it was restrung a while back — not recently, but a fair bit ago.

I’ve checked the wrest plank up close — no cracks, no signs of stress — and the tuning pins are tight and secure. It’s been tuned recently to A=440 and holds steady. All the keys work fine, no sticking or dead spots. The tone is quite mellow and sweet, with that classic Bechstein sparkle — not too loud, not too soft, just rich and warm. The key action is a bit light, which is typical for this model, but it’s still responsive.

A few weeks ago, a technician came through and refaced the hammers — that’s the only real work done on it, and it’s definitely improved the sound. I’m a sole trader, so I’m offering a two-year warranty on parts and labour — covering things like keys sticking, broken strings, pedal issues, or any cracks in the frame. It’s not a full replacement, just a solid cover for the next couple of years.

The warranty only applies if you’re within about 40 miles of me — mainly in the home counties around Harlow or London. I can arrange delivery through London Pianos Ltd (they’re based in Hornsey), though it’s at your cost. Roughly £180 to get it to a ground floor, if you’re local.
