49/1 400W PEP Resonant End Fed Kit with 1/1 RF Choke
Description
So I’ve been using this 49/1 resonant end-fed kit for a while now, and it’s been running really smoothly. It’s a 400W PEP ICAS unit, built with a single FT240-43 core wound with 14AWG double-insulated copper wire, and includes a 100pF 30kV ceramic capacitor. All the bits are neatly potted and ready to go — no tuner needed. The kit comes with 21m of Mil 28D Kevlar line, which’s perfect for 7/14/21/28MHz, and it’s all pre-connected through marine A4 stainless steel strain reliefs. The output end has a ceramic insulator, and the line is secured with stainless steel thimbles and wire locks, all attached to a resin-potted setup.
I also included a 1/1 RF isolating choke — made with an FT240-31 Mn core and semi-rigid PTFE coax — which gives over 35dB of noise suppression at low frequencies and helps cut down on RF pickup from coax. It has two SO239 sockets, so you can plug it in at your shack end.
I’m moving over to commercial production soon, which means I’m downsizing my personal setup. So I’m parting with this one — it’s been tested, works well, and I’m happy with how it turned out.
It’s all assembled, ready to use, and includes full instructions. The complete kit is £72, plus UK postage (about £8) via PayPal, BACS, or cash on collection from Essex, England.
If you’ve got any questions or just want to chat about how it’s set up, I’m happy to share more — I’ve been using it for years and it’s been reliable.
