So, I’ve had this Land Rover Defender 90 for over 30 years — originally from 1988, though I bought it in '89 — and it’s been through a few phases since then. It’s a 4x4 pick-up with a 2.5-litre 300Tdi engine, which was swapped from a manual to an automatic gearbox years ago. The conversion was done by a previous owner, and I’ve kept it well-maintained ever since.

The body’s been repainted from white to green recently — not a fancy job, just a solid respray that’s held up pretty well. There’s a bit of corrosion and bubbling around the steel bits, mostly near trim and fittings, but nothing major. No known dents or major damage — it’s been handled with care over the years.

Inside, I gave it a full interior overhaul. Seat covers, rear bulkhead, door panels, steering wheel, and the central cubby are all now distressed brown leather — custom trim, not factory stuff. The dash has a bit of edge wear, and the lower cushions and door sills show light use, but it’s still solid and comfortable. Under the floor, I added Dynamat to deaden the noise — makes it quiet enough for daily use.

I had a new half-chassis fitted in 2020, and it’s been serviced regularly. The last service was about 18 months ago, with new brake pads and discs. The MOT was passed in December 2020 — first time — with just a couple of minor advisories about track rod rubber covers. Nothing serious.

It’s got a V5, road tax of £295 a year, and a full service history with invoices. I’ve kept it running on diesel, and it handles just about anything — rough terrain, muddy fields, city roads — no problem.

It’s not flashy, but it’s reliable, practical, and actually feels like a proper working vehicle. I’ve used it for years as a daily driver and a bit of a weekend utility — it’s never let me down.
