Description

So, I’ve got this 1966 Pontiac Ventura Coupe sitting in Silsden, Bradford, and I’m finally putting it up for sale after nearly 7 years of being in storage. It’s not a flashy show car, but it’s got a real story behind it — and honestly, it’s one of the few of its kind still around in the UK.

It’s got that big 415 Big Block Oldsmobile engine — a proper 6.9L V8 — with a Performer inlet, tubular headers, and a 680 Holley carb. It runs, starts on the button, and drives smooth. The gearbox, brakes, and steering all work fine, and it’s been stored properly since 2018. I’ve done a bit of a check, and it’s solid under the skin — just needs a bit of work to get back to full running order.

The bodywork has seen a bit of wear — the lower sections have started bubbling up, and one wheel arch needs attention. A few spots of paint have cracked or micro-blistered, but the chrome’s still solid, just a bit tarnished on the front bumper. No holes or rot. The wheels and spare are all in good shape.

Inside, it’s been reupholstered — the door cards, dashboard, front seats, carpets, and rear parcel shelf are all in good shape. The front seats have faded a bit, and the lower seat frames have pushed through the leather in a couple of places. The rear seats are cracked and crazed — definitely need a reupholstery job. The interior overhaul likely happened around 2012, probably at the same time as a respray and full mechanical work.

I’ve got a massive service history file — 174 parts and invoices, totalling over £12,000 in maintenance. It includes wiring diagrams, part lists, upgrade records, LPG conversion manuals and certificates, import docs, USA and UK registrations, and even a custom user manual made by previous owners. It’s one of the most detailed histories I’ve ever seen in 23 years of dealing with cars.

If you’re coming to see it, plan for at least an hour — it’s that long and detailed. The car’s been in storage since 2018, so it’s not exactly showroom-ready, but it’s still a real keeper. It’s a rare find — the only Pontiac Ventura available for sale in the UK outside the US.

I’m not selling it as a weekend driver — it’s more of a project car, needing a bit of recommissioning. If you’re interested in doing the work yourself, or if you’d like us to do it (we can handle both mechanical and cosmetic jobs), we can chat about that. We’ve done this kind of work before — it’s not a big job, just a bit of rework to get it back to where it should be.

It’s not going to cost £25k if it were on a concourse — we’re pricing it fairly at £13,499 for a running project, and we’re acting as the agent because it’s better suited for spares or repair.

We’re based at Red Pumps Garage on Chapel Road, Dersingham, and we’re happy to meet you at a time that works for you. We’ve got over 20 years of experience in buying and selling quality cars, and we always take time to make sure everything’s clear before it goes to market.

If you’re into classic American cars and want something with real provenance — this one’s a solid pick. It’s not perfect, but it’s got heart, history, and a lot of detail that’s hard to find.

Let me know if you want to come take a look — I’d love to show you what’s inside.

— Just a regular guy who’s been passionate about cars for decades.
