So, I’ve got this 2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 316 auto sleeper Bourton – it’s been winterized through four seasons and is in great shape. It’s a proper motorhome, not a van, and it’s got a 3500kg rating so you can drive it with a normal car licence. The gearbox is automatic, which is a real plus – no fiddling with gears when you’re on the move.

Inside, the two long sofas convert to single beds – one’s 6'4", the other 6'1" – or you can pull them together for a big double if you’re just trying to sleep in one go. The living area is pretty spacious, and there’s a big opening rooflight and two others, which means it’s bright and airy.

There’s a rear camera with a mirror-mounted monitor, alarm and immobilizer, so it’s secure when parked. The habitation has air con, a Truma dual fuel (gas and 240v) water heater and space heater, and the heating system can be controlled remotely via phone. I’ve got a gas barbeque point and a 240v socket outside, plus an auxiliary electric water pump.

Kitchen’s fully equipped: three gas rings and one 240v hob, full oven, separate grill, energy selection fridge/freezer, sink with drainer, and extractor fan. Microwave is included too.

Bathroom has a swing wall shower that makes a proper cubicle, cassette toilet with electric flush, sink and vanity. All the usual Bourton bits are there – including a large on-board gas tank with a cab gauge, full 12v/240v system, leisure battery with alternator and mains charging, LED lighting, 240v consumer unit, and plenty of sockets.

The body’s fully insulated, double glazing, blinds, and flyscreens – so it stays warm and quiet. Fresh and waste water tanks are on board, and there’s a big free-standing table that can be used inside or outside, plus a smaller one, a cocktail cabinet, and an underslung storage locker.

The cab has a high spec Mercedes setup: air con, cruise control, speed limiter, 10-inch infotainment with multi-channel radio, interactive steering wheel, trip computer, alloy wheels, twin airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control, ASR, one-touch electric windows, mirrors, and remote central locking – it even locks the habitation door.

It’s had a full MOT, serviced (including timing belt if due), habitation survey/PDI check, and comes with a 3-month warranty. I’ve also got global Telematics Thatcham S5 trackers and immobilizers fitted – starting from £400, if you're interested, I can share details.
