Description

So this van — my trusty 2011 Shuttle — has been around for a while now, and honestly, I didn’t expect how much I’d love it. I bought it to help with moving house and then went on a proper summer family trip down the south coast. We’ve done just over 3000 miles since, including loads of camping, biking, and even a scooter for my daughter — which fits perfectly in the back.

It’s a long-wheelbase model, so there’s loads of space. The rear seats come out easily, and I’ve had a go at making it into a 3-seater bench — splits into single and double, so you can customise it for any group. The front has a captain’s chair and a bench, and my partner loved it — she even managed to sleep across it on one of our late-night drives back to Sedbergh.

The engine pulls smoothly, no issues at all, and the DSG gearbox shifts like a dream — crisp, quiet, just as it was when it left the factory. I’ve had a few scratches and signs of wear, but it’s still in great shape overall. I’ve had more than a few people stop me at campsites asking if they can see it — I’m not sure if they’re envious or just really impressed.

The stereo’s been upgraded — DAB, satnav, Bluetooth, USB, even a subwoofer under the driver’s seat. I didn’t realise it was aftermarket at first, but it’s solid and works really well. AC was refilled and the pipe replaced when I got it — now it’s blowing ice cold, which has been a lifesaver on hot summer days.

It comes with two working remotes and a full service history: 15,000, 36,000, 55,000, 73,000, 87,000, 92,000, 102,000, 108,000, 127,000, 139,000, 149,000, 159,000, and 178,000 miles — that’s 13 services total. Plus two gearbox services, which is a real plus.
