1989 Volkswagen T25

So, we’re parting ways with this old faithful – the Kommie T25. We’ve had her for over 10 years now, and she’s seen a lot: from Skye to Rome, and everything in between. She’s been reliable, mostly quiet, and even survived a few scrapes.

Mechanically, she’s solid – just had a 7-month MOT, and we swapped in a reconditioned Golf petrol engine. Silica pipes, new exhaust, all that good stuff. The engine runs smooth and hasn’t let us down.

That said, she’s a bit of a character – some rusty spots, window seals are a bit worn, and yeah, someone took the spare tyre a couple of weeks ago. We’ve been meaning to get that replaced.

But here’s the fun bit: we installed a solar panel years ago, and it still works. Not a lot of power, but it’s been great for charging when we’ve been out on the road.

We’re not sure what the future holds for her – maybe a bit of TLC and a new spare wheel would bring her back to life. Still, she’s been a good companion through the years, and now we’re just passing her on.

She’s currently parked at Bowness-on-Windermere, Westmorland and Furness. If you’ve got a soft spot for classic VWs, or just love a vehicle that’s seen it all – let me know. Price’s £4,275, but I don’t expect anyone to pay for nostalgia.
