So I’ve got this 2005 Mercedes Sprinter camper van — it’s been my trusty workhorse for years, and honestly, it’s never let me down. I’ve taken it from Peterhead all the way down to South Wales, and back, and it’s held up well.

It’s got a solid engine — starts first time every time, runs smooth, and I’ve done regular maintenance: fuel and oil filters replaced yearly. It uses a timing chain (not a belt), which I’ve heard is better for long-term reliability.

The body has a bit of rust, mostly on the outside — not bad, mostly just cosmetic. One window’s been replaced with Perspex, which is solid and weatherproof. It’s passed three MOTs — could swap it out for a proper window if needed. The windscreen has a crack, but it’s not a big deal and I’d be happy to fix it or replace it if someone wants to.

I’ve got an LPG system — underslung tank, fully working — powers the fridge, freezer, oven, grill, and four-ring hob. It’s super economical — about £11 to fill, and it’s lasted over two years. Still has gas, so no worries there.

Inside, it’s got a sofa that converts to a single bed, plus a fixed double bed at the back. The bathroom has a built-in toilet and shower, and there’s a water heater and a diesel heater — both keep it warm all year round. Plenty of storage too — cupboards, under-seat, you name it.

I’ve also got a Fiamma zip awning with canopy — nice for outdoor living when the weather’s good.

I’m moving on to a new van now, so this one is finally going to find a new home. I’ve used it for everything — long trips, weekend getaways, camping — and it’s always been reliable.
