Description

Got this videx 3176 door entry unit sitting in my garage in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire. It’s been installed but never actually used because it didn’t work with my existing system — the compatibility just wasn’t there. Still in good condition, though.

It’s similar to the 3172 model, but instead of a remote switch, you activate privacy mode by pressing the push button. A red LED lights up to show “privacy on,” and how long it stays active depends on a 3-way dip switch inside the unit. No service button like on the 3172, but there’s a green LED that shows whether the door is open or closed — super handy for knowing the status at a glance.

To make that green light work, you need a wire from a door contact to the intercom, which I haven’t added yet. So it’s mostly a unit with potential — could be useful if you’re looking for something that gives clear visual feedback and privacy control.

It’s been sitting in a quiet corner of my garage for a while now — just not needed, and I'm not using it. If you're into old intercom systems or just need a reliable door entry unit, it’s a solid piece. Price is £27 if you’re interested.
