Description

So, I’ve been keeping this boat on moorings in Macduff, Aberdeenshire for a while now — it’s been sitting there, mostly just getting the occasional run on the water, and I’ve decided to part with it. It’s a Feelings 286 Special, a 28-foot French single-keel sloop from 1989, and I’ve had it fully overhauled in January 2024.

The boat’s been properly refitted from keel to cabin — I didn’t just do a surface update, it’s been a proper deep clean and rebuild. The single keel’s 1.65m, tiller rudder, and it’s got a 9HP Volvo Penta from 2001 (same overhaul as the refit). The main sail is 140% genoa, in great shape with two reef points, and it comes with the jib, storm jib, and Drago — all still in good order.

It sleeps six, with a fore cabin and an aft cabin — both have side saloon beds. I’ve updated the interior with new foam and materials on all seats and berths, including new curtains. The navigation setup is fresh too — chart plotter, GPS, 7-inch screen, VHF with AST available, windvien wireless, and Windex Arrow.

The engine’s been serviced and the cooling system overhauled. There’s a 12V water pump with pressure fittings, four skin fittings on all sea cocks, new deck wood and saloon carpet, spray hood, cabin cover, boom cover, and an 80-watt solar panel. Three new batteries too.

I’ve also completely refitted the heads — new sink, new fittings, new lining, and LED lighting. Bilge pump, all ropes and lines replaced, hull re-jelcoated and redone, fenders and buoys added, life raft included, and a 12V shower outside. There’s even room for a cooler or fridge in the cabin.

There’s a 12V TV with DVD player and audio system too.

The last survey was done in 2021 by the previous owner, but the paperwork got lost when they sold — not digital, so if you need it, it’ll be at your cost.

It’s currently at a mooring in Saltash Passage, and I’ve been using it on a monthly pay basis at Millbrook in Cornwall, but it’s been on a trot mooring in the Tamar River last season.

I’m happy to chat or arrange a viewing if you’re interested — just drop me a message. I’ve been looking at it from a practical side, so if you’re into sailing and want a solid, well-maintained boat with good value, this might be worth a look.

P.S. It’s not a quick sale — I’ve had it at £19,500 originally, but I’ve brought it down to £13,000. That’s the current asking price, though I’m not going to go lower than that.
