Gilbert & Sullivan Operas: Mikado, Gondoliers, Yeoman – 6 Volumes

These are the six volumes of Gilbert & Sullivan operas I’ve been holding onto for years — Mikado, Gondoliers, and Yeoman. I got them as a collection when I was into old musical theatre stuff, and they’ve stayed with me through all the years.

Each volume covers the key acts: Mikado has both Act I and Act II highlights, Gondoliers has Act I and some of the big Act II numbers, and Yeoman has both acts covered. They’re softback, with a bit of age showing — the paper’s slightly yellowed, a bit brittle, and there are a few marks, which you’d expect from vintage books. The binding is staple-held, a bit rusty, but still holds together well.

One of the Mikado volumes is missing its back cover — the other volumes have both front and back covers intact. The publishers are Chappell & Co Ltd and J B Cramer & Co Ltd, which makes sense since those were the original publishers.

I’ve kept these around for a while, and they’re not used much now — just sitting on a shelf. I’m not selling them for much, it’s just a small thing I’ve been holding onto. If you’re into old musicals or have a soft spot for the Savoy operas, they’re a decent little find.

They’re from Monmouthshire, Wales — I’ve been living there for a few years now and just decided to part with them.
