Kawasaki Ninja ZX9R 1995 899cc
Description
So, I’ve got this 1995 Kawasaki ZX9R — I bought it back when I was new to riding, thought it was gonna be the dream bike. But I had some wild ideas about how to push it, and honestly, I didn’t know what I was doing.I tried to race it at around 160mph — not smart, not safe — and that’s when things went south. Coolant pipes, clutch, thermostat, head gasket — all blown. Got stuck in Rhyl, had to pay for recovery, then another 850 to 1000 in parts and labour to get it back on track. Replaced the head gasket, chain guide, tensioner, head bolts, clutch, and put on those shiny Kawasaki green silicone radiator pipes.
But here’s the thing — it’s never really run right since. The clutch has done less than 100 miles, and I’m not even sure if it’s the battery or the motor that’s failing. I’ve tested it, and it’s been running at a low level — just barely. I’ve put new tyres on, and it’s been tested through April last year.
I’m not in a position to keep throwing money at it. I’ve got a bit of a debt from it now — I’m losing about £1300 — and I just can’t justify fixing it any more. The forks have been rebuilt too, so they’re not a problem.
It’s been sitting in Lee-on-the-Solent, Gosport, and I’m just looking for someone who might actually want to ride it or at least take a look. I don’t expect it to be perfect — but it’s a solid piece of kit with a story. If you’re into bikes with a bit of history, maybe you’d find it interesting. I’m not selling it for a lot, but it’s not exactly going to be a showpiece either. Just a real bike with real problems — and real memories.
